We don't. BoardFlow is an open source project. AI features use Puter.js "user pays" model — you cover your own AI usage costs through your Puter account, just like you pay for your own electricity. No middleman markup.

About BoardFlow

BoardFlow was born from a simple belief: tools for thinking should be free and accessible to everyone.

The Problem

Most whiteboard and board apps lock their best features behind expensive subscriptions. Students can't afford $10-30/month. Small teams get nickel-and-dimed for every collaboration feature. Individual creators pay more for tools than they earn from them.

Our Solution

BoardFlow gives you everything — infinite canvas, sticky notes, rich text, sketches, file uploads, AI assistant, real-time collaboration, 35+ templates, dark mode, 15 languages — all for free. No trials. No "freemium" bait-and-switch. Just free.

How We Do It

We leverage modern infrastructure that scales efficiently:

  • Supabase handles auth and the database with a generous free tier
  • Puter.js provides AI and file storage on a "user pays" model
  • Cloudflare Pages hosts the app with unlimited bandwidth
  • Vanilla JS means no framework overhead — the app loads fast on any device

BoardFlow ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our web application.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile information (name, email, profile picture).

Board Content

All content you create on your boards — notes, sketches, files, images, audio, video — is stored in our database and associated with your account. We do not access or use your content for any purpose other than providing the service to you.

Usage Data

We collect minimal usage data (page views, feature usage) to improve the application. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the BoardFlow service
  • To authenticate your account and secure access
  • To store and sync your board content across devices
  • To communicate with you about your account (if needed)
  • To improve the application based on aggregated usage patterns

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure, which uses industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We do not operate our own servers — your data is managed by Supabase's secure PostgreSQL hosting.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — Authentication and database hosting
  • Puter.js — AI features and file storage (user-pays model)
  • ImgBB — Image hosting for uploaded images
  • Cloudflare — Static site hosting and CDN

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Data Retention

We retain your account and board data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Your Rights

  • Access all data associated with your account
  • Export your board data at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data

Children's Privacy

BoardFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BoardFlow, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Description of Service

BoardFlow is a free web-based whiteboard and collaboration tool. It allows users to create boards, add various content types (notes, sketches, files, etc.), and collaborate with others in real-time.

Account Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use BoardFlow
  • You may not share your account credentials with others

Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create on BoardFlow. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your boards, notes, sketches, or any other content you produce using our tool.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Upload malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' boards
  • Use the service to distribute spam or unsolicited content
  • Abuse the AI features in ways that violate applicable laws
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code

AI Features

BoardFlow provides AI features (chat, image generation, OCR, text-to-speech, speech-to-text) through Puter.js. These features operate on a "user pays" model — AI usage costs are covered by the user's Puter account, not by BoardFlow.

Service Availability

We strive to keep BoardFlow available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance or updates without prior notice.

Limitation of Liability

BoardFlow is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or unauthorized access.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the application settings.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
